Here’s how it works

Contact Highlight Productions and schedule a meeting. We can set a time and place to meet, preferably at one of your off-season games and talk about what and where you want to go. If you’re under 18, it’s OK. Just have either a parent or guardian there so I can explain the process to both of you, what will be expected of both you and me and then get you into my schedule. It’s that simple.

So, what do you get?

All Highlight Videos include 1 original DVD and 5 DVD’s to send to college coaches. All contracts that include filming by Highlight Productions will be filmed in HD (High Definition). Post-production to supplied film will be the best possible quality but the final product will depend on the quality the film was supplied as. Each Highlight DVD package will include a customized label including a photo of the individual and contact information on the cover. The Highlight DVD will start with an introduction from the athlete, a titled area for ‘specialty highlights’ and one half game of your choice. It is important to include cumulative athletic and scholastic statistics on your DVD. They should be included on the DVD as the last screen of each highlight segment or listed in the titling area at the beginning of the DVD. Background music can be added which can be chosen either by the athlete or supplied by Highlight Productions.

Price breaks are always encouraged

Talk to your friends on the team and see if they’d be interested in a highlight DVD too. Filming costs can be split between 3 or more athletes. The cost for filming per game drops dramatically when three or more athletes contract Highlight Productions. Production costs are not discounted. It still takes the same amount of time to produce a high quality DVD for an individual athlete.

But what if I play multiple positions?

Let’s say you can face-off and play defense, or play defense and offense, maybe you’re a specialty player who can also play defense and/or offense? Maybe you play multiple sports? Highlight Productions can add multiple highlight subtitles on the menu of the DVD. Now the coach can pop in the DVD and can go directly to what his needs for his team will be for the coming season. A college coach has limited time to recruit and appreciates anything you can do to help in this process.

For Parents Regarding Filming

I know how difficult it is trying to film a sporting event your son or daughter is playing in. Scenario: try following a lacrosse game without the camera. Then try watching it through a 2” x 3” LED screen! Ask yourself: ‘when do I zoom in or out’, ‘how far should I zoom out’, ‘does it look like I’m filming from across town somewhere and can’t see who’s who’? ‘Did I zoom in too much and missed the action’? Or maybe you’ve said to yourself: ‘This is lousy, I can’t even cheer for my child because I’ll miss what’s going on out on the field through the camera.’ Or even worse, you’ve started watching the game and forgot about the camera and realize you’re actually filming an empty part of the field (now that’s embarrassing)?

Believe me, I’ve been there. And it takes an insurmountable amount of discipline to film a sporting event. Knowing the game itself and anticipating where the play will be moving towards helps, but it’s actually the discipline of watching the game in a manner of content and knowing what the final product will look like after production has been completed is what will make a professionally looking film.

Have Highlight Productions film your child’s game and get a professional looking film for your College Bound athlete. That way, you can enjoy your child’s athletic experience on the field and not worry if one of the other parents is filming something that can or cannot be used for editing. Afterwards, your child can view and choose which film clips to add in his/her Highlight DVD from a ‘television looking’ film of their game. We suggest at least 3 games to be filmed. This gives your child less pressure to have just 1 GREAT game. We’re sure within the 3 games filmed the amount of highlights needed to produce a quality Highlight DVD for submission to College Coaches will be achieved.

Sure does! Don’t be the one standing on the sidelines wondering why you weren’t getting the college coaches emails, phone calls, letters or a personal visit. I can help you with putting a film together that WILL get you noticed! I can also give you some pointers regarding where you should be and what you should be doing. Last but CERTAINLY not least is GRADES! Absolutely NO college coach will recruit someone who can’t make it in the classroom. It makes no sense to recruit someone who can’t make it to the field due to a low GPA. They’d rather give a scholarship to someone they know can scholastically achieve, to be there every game and give 110% for the team. It’s not about the sports, but about the E-D-U-C-A-T-I-O-N!

One more thing, if it’s a scholarship you’re looking for, it’s important to know there’s only so much scholarship money to go around. Most coaches divide their full scholarships into smaller scholarships to attract as many highly skilled players as possible. The Highlight DVD will get you noticed. Once that happens, it’s up to you. Some athletes have their heart set on getting into a specific college or university. A Highlight DVD could very possibly be the one thing that will set you apart from someone with the exact same grades. And if the coach likes what he sees, he may be the one deciding factor when it comes to the admissions department of who gets accepted and who doesn’t. I know this from firsthand experience – this just happened with my son.

So go for it! You love the game and you know you have what it takes to play with the best. Playing collegiate sports can be one of the, if not the best time of your life! That’s a guarantee!
